New Year, New Standards

RE: Yoga Alliance New Standards

Over the past two years, I have taken several trainings. This has kept me from endless binge-watching on Netflix...with the exception of cooking shows, of course! Check out Selena Gomez's new cooking show on HBOMax!

So, here is the skinny...Yoga Alliance has announced its new standards for online training effective January 1st. Some of it I like, some of it I don't, but I definitely feel it is needed. Some CHEAP trainings were offered throughout the shutdown and many of which were all pre-recorded. In some cases, this is handy...ie granular learning that allows the student to pause the tape, take notes, etc. In some cases, this is not so handy...ie learning how to teach a class or getting much needed Practicum.

The one element Edge students have enjoyed is the flexible schedule. As the reigns are tightened to avoid shotty trainings, we also lose some flexibility. At the request of most yoga studios (yours truly included), Yoga Alliance has drawn a line in the sand as to when the new standards apply. It is January 1st.

See the infogram below to find out more about ASYNCHRONOUS vs SYNCHRONOUS to decide which training method is right for you. Keep in mind that if you begin before December 31, 2021, you will have more flexibility than after. Schools will also need to adjust their tuition rates to reflect that.

I hope this is of service to you and may your journey be a fulfilling one.

Namaste,

Michelle
