Edge Yoga School — Student FAQ
At Edge Yoga School, our students come from all walks of life — purpose-driven, creative, curious, often balancing work, caregiving, healing, and growth. This FAQ brings together the clearest, most compassionate answers about how training works here, based entirely on our school’s values and learning model.
What is the learning style at Edge Yoga School?
Our approach blends warm mentorship, gentle accountability, and a deeply supportive, trauma-informed structure. Students experience both flexibility and rhythm — enough spaciousness to honor real-life needs, and enough clarity to keep momentum and confidence building steadily.
What sessions are included in the trainings?
All Edge programs follow the 2026 Onboarding Model:
Weekly Webinars (recorded within 48 hours)
Hands-On Labs
Studio Teaching Sessions
Weekly Assignments + Reflections submitted in Slack
Office Hours for questions, coaching, and clarity
Field Trips + Special Events (count toward hours)
This structure supports competence, creativity, and embodied teaching.
How do I submit weekly reflections and assignments?
Everything is submitted through Slack — reflections, journal screenshots, Yoga Anatomy progress, Yoga Class hours, and teaching notes. Slack is our unified place for documentation and communication.
How do I track my training hours?
You track hours throughout the week using:
Reflection posts in Slack
Screenshots of Yoga Anatomy study
Screenshots of Yoga Classes taken
Lab attendance
Field trip participation
This creates a steady, clear record of your journey.
What if I need flexibility?
Edge is built to honor life happening in real time. Illness, caregiving, job changes, grief, relocation, and unexpected shifts are met with empathy and structure — never shame.Students have an 18-month completion window to support sustainable progress.
What is the attendance policy for Labs?
Labs run every Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday, except holiday weeks. You may attend as often as needed. Labs include:
Teaching drills
Modifications practice
Snippet sequencing
Cueing practice
Anatomy-in-action
Group dynamics and confidence building
Consistent participation leads to real teaching readiness.
How does teaching readiness work at Edge?
Teaching readiness is competency-based, not performance-based.You’ll learn how to:
Teach hands-on and verbally with confidence
Offer modifications safely
Handle real group dynamics
Teach without dependency on class plans
Build sequences from foundational Snippets
Edge prepares you to walk into a room and teach — calmly, competently, and authentically.
How do field trips work?
Field trips rotate seasonally and are scheduled around student availability. These experiences deepen learning through observation, community connection, and real-time professional insight.
What is the prerequisite for Anatomy?
All programs include Leslie Kaminoff’s Yoga Anatomy Course (or concurrent enrollment). It may be taken:
During the RYT 200
Alongside the RYT 300
Or as a standalone training
The course is on-demand, allowing you to learn at your own pace.
What is the refund policy?
Edge Yoga School honors a no-refund policy with an 18-month completion allowance. This ensures clarity and structure for all students within the cohort.
What if I feel overwhelmed?
Overwhelm happens — and we normalize it. Many students cycle through:
Processing mode (quiet integration)
Tracking mode (steady progress)
Meditation mode (“let me meditate on that”)
All modes are welcomed and supported. Emotional safety is part of the pedagogy.
Do you support diverse learning styles?
Yes.Edge centers compassion and accessibility for visual, verbal, reflective, hands-on, multilingual, and neurodivergent learners. Trauma-informed awareness is foundational across all programs.
How does mentorship fit into my training?
Mentorship is the heart of the Edge experience. Students receive individualized guidance, structured support, and space to grow at a pace that honors both rigor and wellbeing. Community culture is intentional, inclusive, and rooted in connection.
How will I stay informed throughout my program?
Slack is home base. All updates, announcements, reflections, schedules, and hour tracking are posted there so you always know what’s happening and never have to hunt for information.
What are the core values of Edge Yoga School?
Integrity
Compassion
Authenticity
Emotional safety
Rigor blended with warmth
Creativity
Community belonging
Trauma-informed awareness
Lifelong learning
