International Day of Yoga: A Reflection and a Pledge
Tomorrow, June 21st, we celebrate the International Day of Yoga.
For some, yoga begins with movement. For others, it begins with a breath, a moment of stillness, or the simple realization that life is asking us to slow down and listen.
At its heart, yoga is a practice of self-reflection.
It invites us to notice our habits, our reactions, our strengths, and our growing edges. It encourages us to step away from the noise for a moment and return to ourselves. Through practice, we learn not only how to move our bodies, but how to observe our thoughts, cultivate awareness, and meet life with a little more presence.
As I reflected on what I wanted to offer for this year’s International Day of Yoga, I found myself returning to a simple question:
How can we share the benefits of yoga with others?
Not as a requirement.
Not as a business strategy.
Not as a performance.
Simply as an act of service.
For this weekend only, Edge Yoga School is offering a partial scholarship opportunity for those who feel called to deepen their studies.

To receive the scholarship, there is only one request:
The Community Yoga Pledge
I recognize that yoga is a practice of service, awareness, and connection.
As I am able, I commit to sharing the benefits of yoga within my community.
This may include teaching, volunteering, offering encouragement, creating welcoming spaces, supporting others on their path, or simply embodying the teachings through kindness and presence.
I offer this commitment freely, without expectation of recognition or reward.
May my practice contribute to the well-being of my community.
A Moment of Reflection
Before applying, take a few quiet moments and ask yourself:
How has yoga influenced my life?
Who introduced me to the practice?
What lessons have I learned both on and off the mat?
How might I share those lessons with others?
What does service look like in this season of my life?
There are no right or wrong answers.
Some may teach classes.
Some may share meditation with a friend.
Some may volunteer.
Some may simply bring a little more patience, compassion, and understanding into their daily interactions.
Every act matters.

This scholarship opportunity is available through the International Day of Yoga weekend only.
If you choose to participate, I invite you to do so with sincerity, curiosity, and a spirit of service.
Yoga has been shared from teacher to student for generations. May we continue that tradition by supporting one another and helping the practice reach those who may benefit from it.
Happy International Day of Yoga.
