Our Winter Plan: How We Navigate Cold Weather with Care

Winter happens. We plan with care.

Winter in the Midwest can be unpredictable — and we want you to know that your learning, safety, and peace of mind are always part of the plan.
At Edge Yoga School, we believe structure and flexibility can coexist. That’s why we’ve put a clear Winter Weather Plan in place so you always know what to expect, even when conditions outside feel uncertain.
Our Guiding Principle
Safety comes first. Consistency matters. And learning continues — even when we pivot formats.
Rather than making last-minute decisions or leaving students guessing, we follow a thoughtful rule of thumb that allows us to plan ahead and communicate clearly.

Weekday Sessions
If local school districts 200, 203, or 204 are closed due to weather, any in-person training scheduled that day will move to a webinar format.
This mirrors how many educational institutions respond to winter conditions and helps ensure safe travel for everyone.
Weekend Sessions & Cold Weather
Because school closures don’t apply on weekends, we use weather conditions themselves as our guide.
If:
The forecasted high is at or below 20°F, or
The wind chill is in the single digits or below,
the session will move to a webinar.
When conditions are manageable, we’ll meet in person as planned.
How You’ll Know
Most trainings begin at 2:00 PM, and we want you to be able to plan your day with confidence.
Any weather-related decision will be posted in Slack the night before the scheduled session.
This approach allows everyone to plan ahead — without waiting for a morning-of update.

Built-In Flexibility
Our programs are designed with real life in mind. Winter weather, family needs, energy levels, and travel safety are all part of that reality.
Choosing a webinar format when conditions are harsh isn’t a disruption — it’s a way of honoring continuity while caring for the community.

If you’re ever feeling unsure about travel or conditions, you’re always welcome to reach out. We’re here to support your learning in a way that feels grounded, steady, and human.
Thank you for being part of a community that values safety, clarity, and showing up thoughtfully — in every season.
Warmly,
Michelle Rae Sobi
